SAMRADO was founded in 1992 in Mogadishu. As a charitable nonprofit organization, SAMRADO serves the most vulnerable and marginalized youth in Minnesota and Somalia. In Somalia, SAMRADO promotes the welfare of the communities affected by the natural disasters or conflict. It has recently started working in the Somali community in Minneapolis, Minnesota – one of the largest Somali diaspora communities in the world.
SAMRADO implemented and executed number of activities aimed to rebuild Somalia’s destroyed infrastructure by collaborating with international NGOs, local NGOs, local communities and local business community.
Our work is holistic: focusing on addressing the mental/emotional, psychological, and physical needs of neglected, marginalized, orphaned, abandoned, or deprived youth. Our goal is to provide culturally appropriate, sustainable professional educational, and recreational opportunities for youth to promote self-sufficiency, self-respect, self-advocacy, and dignity.
